Verizon Wireless shining in mobile business lampoenk

Telecom giants AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless are investing over $100 million in a joint venture aimed at allowing consumers to make purchases using their mobile phones, according to new reports.

A few industry experts believe the move taken by the trio is a desperate attempt by telecom giants to counter other similar services from rivals such as the Mountain View-based search giant Google Inc.

Dubbed 'Isis', the companies have yet to officially reveal any accurate figures regarding the overall funding.

So more or less, program funding still depends pretty much on the response it receives from merchants and banks, according to a Boston.com report.

Apparently, the Boston.com report cites an unnamed source with direct knowledge of on-going affairs concerning the new venture.

“It’s a given that people are going to be transacting more over cellphones. An independent wireless analysis stated that it could open a potential new revenue stream for them,” the Boston.com report claims.

Meanwhile, in related news, according to a recent study by Juniper Research, the worldwide mobile payment industry will generate $240 billion this year alone.

Gets The New Version Firefox 6 3d Setting Online

Mozilla isn't officially breaking the seal on Firefox 6 until tomorrow, but the code for the latest iteration of its popular open source browser is already available online.
It is currently tucked away on the organisation's FTP server. A blogger over at TechnoBoltspotted that the code has been downloadable since at least Saturday 13 August.
In fact, in recent months it seems to be pretty standard for Mozilla to do a soft launch of its browser via its FTP server, without making an official announcement. The code can often be tracked down a day or two before the latest version of Firefox is given a marketed release.
Mozilla is still stating that Firefox 6 won't be available for download until Tuesday 16 August.
Notably, the browser-maker is also releasing a beta version of Firefox 7 on the same day as well as pushing out an early build of Firefox 8.
Mozilla said it was switching to much smaller tweaks to each browser release at the end of last year, in a clear nod to Google's Chrome release schedule.
The idea is to iterate often and so make the upgrade process appear seamless to web surfers that use the browser. Mozilla had previously spent many months crafting each new release, often making the updates a more major affair.
Here's the code for Mac, Windows and Linux versions of the software. We'll have more about the official release, including what new stuff has been injected into the browser, tomorrow. ®  Read more

Even though it’s scheduled to be released this Tuesday, Firefox 6 is available for download now. Thanks to the folks at Maximum PC who managed to dig up the links for the update, you can now enjoy it two days earlier than everybody else. Here’s what you’ll enjoy with the Firefox 6 update: more control over permissions, faster startup times, faster performance on Linux, better plug-in management, increased support for HTML5, and a whole lot more. Hit the break for the download links. Read More

Street Fighter Ten Tekken Preview

Street Fighter Ten Tekken Preview

Street Fighter X Tekken gets another batch of Comic-Con screens today, mostly of Ryu getting beaten to a pulp by Kazuya and Nina.Meanwhile Namco is working on Tekken X Street Fighter, where all characters will fight in the style of Tekken which also means we’ll be seeing them in a 3D arena

As I approach the 10 year mark as a competitive fighting game player, I can honestly say during my time, I never expected to see a crossover game between Street Fighter and Tekken. Even when rumors of the game’s development began to spread across the Internet, I still couldn’t believe it. The general tone of the rumors from players was, “how would this even work?” — and for good reason. The two games play so radically different from each other, that it’s hard to fathom how characters from each universe could even engage in battle. There are no projectiles in Tekken and, for the most part, Street Fighter characters have always fought on a 2D plane.

After watching Street Fighter X Tekken’s gameplay trailer multiple times, I am convinced that this is a collaboration that will make both Street Fighter and Tekken players happy, but with any trailer of this caliber, the first thing that comes to mind is: What can we expect to see next?

Before we get into what we hope to see in this game, let’s first go over what we already know. Outside of the characters, the trailer showcased a number of different gameplay mechanics, giving players an idea where the game is heading.

Street Fighter: Ryu & Chun-Li: Ryu and Chun-Li appear mostly the same as they do in the Street Fighter 4 series, though with the new combo system in place, we can expect them to play differently. For instance, you can clearly see Ryu perform his Joudan Kick — or Donkey Kick — which was one of his staple attacks that appeared in Street Fighter III and other games as well. The Donkey Kick, like in previous games, results in a wall bounce and will most likely be key in many of Ryu’s high damage combos. Unfortunately, Chun-Li only joins the brawl for a short moment to assist Ryu, so who knows what new moves she might obtain in the game.

Tekken: Kazuya & Nina: Kazuya fires off some of his classic combos from the Tekken series, even nailing Ryu with an Electric Wing God Fist. You can clearly see him ducking under fireballs as well, which is a strong indicator of how the Tekken characters will end up avoiding projectiles. Nina, much like Chun-Li, only makes a quick appearance to lay the smack down on Ryu, but it’s safe to assume she will retain many of her combos from Tekken.

The Most Download whatsapp down internet online

“I have lost confidence. While I hide it at work, my passion has been sapped. I know I am not alone, the sentiment is widespread and it includes people within your own teams.” This is from a devastating but anonymous open letter written to RIM co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, purportedly by a senior employee at the company.
The letter criticises the company’s lack of overall focus and puts the boot in for its “shipping incomplete products that aren’t ready for the end user”, a clear reference to PlayBook, its belated entry into the tablet computer market, early versions of which lack key features like an e-mail client.
On the face of it, RIM does look like a company headed for trouble. It recently missed sales targets and is facing unprecedented levels of competition, especially from Apple, with its iPhone device, and from Google, which makes the fast-growing Android operating system for smartphones.
But is it tickets for RIM and BlackBerry? If SA were a microcosm of the BlackBerry universe, the answer to that question would be an emphatic “no”. Though it has lost ground, it remains the favoured device of many businesspeople.
But it’s in the youth market where the brand has achieved almost iconic status. Go into any school or university in SA and you’ll see youngsters everywhere cradling BlackBerrys. New research shows that one in two students at tertiary institutions want one.
Credit for the extraordinary success of the BlackBerry in the mass consumer market in SA has to go mainly to the recently departed regional director for sub-Saharan Africa, Deon Liebenberg. I recall Liebenberg telling me several years ago, before the BlackBerry craze swept the youth market, about how the company intended to shed its corporate suit — remember the devices used to be virtually the exclusive preserve of businesspeople who wanted to manage their e-mail on the go — and go after the retail consumer market.
I’ll admit I was doubtful that youngsters would embrace what was essentially a business tool. But thanks to cheap and uncapped data access and free text messaging through BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Liebenberg proved my scepticism wrong. Now Liebenberg is headed to Korean electronics giant Samsung. It’s unclear whether anything should be read into that, but his decision to jump ship certainly comes at an interesting juncture.
Arguably RIM’s success in the consumer market could prove fleeting. Yes, BBM is a killer app, and youngsters have adopted it with the same relish they took to MXit a few years ago, but what’s to stop them moving to the next compelling offer that comes along?
The answer is nothing. Already, BBM has challengers. Apple recently took the wraps off iMessage, a similar service for the iPhone. And Whatsapp, a free, device-independent instant messaging application, has caught on like wildfire this year. Unlike BBM, Whatsapp is cross-platform, meaning BlackBerry, iPhone, Android and Nokia users can communicate with each other. It’s no accident that Nokia is marketing the heck out of Whatsapp. read more

Playing the Xbox 360 in Windows 8

According to InsiderIs sources, Xbox 360 on PC will have a subscription fee like Xbox Live, but online gaming will run on Windows Live Marketplace, meaning - at least initially - that PC users won't be able to compete against console owners.

The site suggests an additional revenue stream and the chance to extend the current generation hardware lifespan are behind the move.

Microsoft has yet to announce an official release date for Windows 8, or the full feature set for the operating system, so take this all with a large pinch of salt for now.

Earlier this month, Microsoft announced plans to merge Xbox.com and Games For Windows Marketplace to create a one-stop-shop for players.

"Games For Windows Marketplace will fully transition over to Xbox.com," it said. "Now you can get all of your gaming needs in one place. It's convenient, it's concentrated, and it's a whole lot of  read more
